All Instruments • All Genres • All Levels • All Ages • All FREE
Make Music Columbia is a celebration of music and everyone’s innate ability to make it, from amateurs to professionals.
On June 21st, we’re planning to fill Columbia with as much free and fun music as possible. From parks and parking lots to sidewalks, store-fronts, and stoops, anywhere in the city can be a backdrop for music on Make Music Day.
(And if you just want to watch, we’ll see you on June 21st!)
Mass appeals bring us all together to make some noise. This year we will be learning how to play the harmonica (and passing out 100 free Hohner harmonics), we’ll be jamming on some ukuleles and feeling the rhythm while bucket drumming. We’ll have extra ukes on hand and tons of hand percussion instruments. Feel free to bring your favorite instrument out to the park!
Relax along the banks of the Congaree River with friends and family and watch the sun go down! Join us at Riverfront Park’s historic riverfront pump house complex (312 Laurel Street) where we’ll be making some noise during Bierkeller Columbia! Spend the evening making beats and learn how to play the harmonica with Jim “WallStreet” Coulliard. This year we’re passing out 100 free Hohner harmonicas. Strum some ukueles with Jess Oliver from Girls Rock Columbia by the riverside. Also feel free to bring your own instrument, we’ll have extra ukuleles and hand percussion at the park! There’s something for everyone.
